SIBU: Ten finalists have been shortlisted to vie for the coveted ‘Kumang Gawai Dayak Sibu 2025‘ title during the grand finale set for May 24.
The pageant is one of the highlights of the Pre-Gawai Dayak Sibu 2025 Dinner, organised by the Sibu Gawai Dayak Committee.
The finalists were selected from a pool of sixteen participants during a preliminary screening held recently.
They are Natasha Malviana Nyandang, Fravelian Jelika Radi, Adreana Filsie Sanau Anselm, Manisha Vyonnie Gelebat, Amenda Alannie Ambrose Luta, Juliana Ungan Merayang, Nelly Mujan Rogelio, Nani Saban, Olivia Ceilo Oliver, and Anesonia Aking.
Winners stand to receive attractive prizes, with the Kumang titleholder taking home RM4,000, a crown, a sash, trophy, hamper, and certificate.
The first runner-up (Lulong) and second runner-up (Selinggar Matahari) will receive RM3,000 and RM2,000 respectively, alongside other prizes.
Those placing fourth to tenth will each receive RM800 and a certificate.
Finalists will don traditional ngepan Iban attire, with judging based on overall beauty (50 per cent), presentation of traditional wear (30 per cent), and physique and self-confidence (20 per cent).
The event is supported by SDNU Sibu, SIDS Sibu, OUNA Sibu, and DBNA Sibu, and is expected to be officiated by Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department, Datuk Seri John Sikie Tayai.
SIDS Sibu Chairperson, Angelyn Uchi Maseng, who also leads the Sibu Gawai Dayak Committee, and Kumang Gawai Organising Chairperson, Senorita Salleh, were present during the preliminary selection.
