SIBU: The Sarawak Civil Defence Force (APM) is expected to set up 10 more district operational control centres throughout the state.
This was revealed by its director, Abdul Wahab Rahim when met by reporters during the APM Sibu district ‘Frontliners’ Appreciation Dinner yesterday.
According to Abdul Wahab, the additional centres would further enhance the effectiveness of APM’s emergency services and humanitarian assistance.
He added that the centres would be able to further strengthen the role of its agencies to provide their services.
“The services will be more comprehensive to meet the needs and spectrum of assignments that are growing today,” he said.
He was optimistic that all the new centres would start operating by December this year.
“Among the districts that will have the new centres are Saratok, Mabong, Lubok Antu, Kanowit, Selangau, Tebedu, Dalat, Simunjan, Sebuyau and Gedong,” he said.
Abdul Wahab also revealed that the average daily cases received by the APM was more than 100 cases.
“The existence of the new centres will be able to ensure that the APM will respond faster and the level of readiness of personnel will be more orderly,” he said.
