KUCHING: NAIM Holdings Bhd brought career insights, industry expertise, and a dose of inspiration to a hundred Form 4 students at SMK Batu Lintang here today, reinforcing its commitment towards nurturing Sarawak’s future workforce.
The session featured three engaging speakers: Abang Mohamad Aiman Abang Mat Ali, Regional General Manager for NAIM’s Kuching Region and leader of the Product Design, Planning & Development team; Afifah Abdullah, Interior Design Senior Executive at NAIM; and Ir Dr Choo Chung Siung, senior lecturer at Swinburne University of Technology and Director of the Centre for Innovative Society.
“Corporate responsibility for NAIM is not just about philanthropy, it’s about inspiring change for a sustainable future,” said the Head of Strategic Planning, Farah Nadia Masrol, in a press statement today.
“Through initiatives like this, we aim to empower students with knowledge, confidence, and pathways to build meaningful careers. We hope today’s session sparks curiosity and opens doors to new possibilities,” she said.
Through their personal journeys, Aiman, Afifah and Choo shared valuable lessons on career readiness, lifelong learning, and embracing opportunities beyond the classroom.
Students were encouraged to develop timeless skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, communication, creativity, and adaptability qualities that remain relevant regardless of industry changes.
To make the event interactive, NAIM incorporated a series of ice-breaking and career-themed activities designed to spark self-reflection, highlight personal strengths, and encourage active participation.
These sessions helped students explore their skills and aspirations in a fun, engaging way.
Choo’s segment also introduced students to the breadth of opportunities in engineering and academia, highlighting significant infrastructure projects he has contributed to, as well as study pathways and scholarships available at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak.
The career talk forms part of NAIM’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility focus on education, one of the company’s four CSR pillars.
NAIM also took the opportunity to share information on its internship programmes, encouraging students to consider future placements as a stepping stone to professional growth.
