SIBU: The Sibu Parliamentary Service Centre, led by Member of Parliament, Oscar Ling, is set to organise a subsidy event, offering 1,000 sets of subsidised food packages for the benefit of the local community this Saturday.
The event will be held from 11.30 am to 2.30 pm at Medan Department Store, Unicity Commercial Centre, Jalan Wawasan here.
According to Ling, each food package will be sold at RM30 after a 32 per cent discount, where the original price is RM46. A total of 1,000 packages will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis, until sold out.
He emphasised that with the ample quantity available, there is no need for the public to queue up early in the morning. Attendees are encouraged to come at different times to avoid congestion of both people and traffic.
Pointing out that the subsidised items will be sold as a full set only, not individually, he stated each food package includes 10kg of 3A white rice, a pack of Lee Hwa flour, a pack of biscuits and 10 eggs.
To benefit young families with newborns, he explained that one coupon entitles the holder to purchase one pack of milk powder, with a RM5 rebate for milk powder priced above RM20.
“Members of the public must register first to receive a coupon from the organiser, which can then be used to purchase items in-store. Each household is limited to one package only, and cash payment is required. Buyers will also receive a small gift, but only during the event time,” said Ling.
He added that this subsidy event is a monthly activity by his service centre, aimed at alleviating the people’s financial burden under the Madani Government. It is held in various areas to reflect a community-focused and people-oriented service spirit.
