KUCHING: A total of 1,027 people have been selected as Haj pilgrims from the state who are bound for the Holy Land of Mecca.
They comprise 661 from Kuching, 72 from Miri, 56 from Sibu, 22 from Limbang / Lawas, 50 from Sri Aman, 67 from Sarikei, 64 from Bintulu and 35 from Mukah.
According to the State Director of Lembaga Tabung Haji, Hajah Zaiton binti Mohd Yusoff, there are five flights scheduled for this year involving more than 160 pilgrims per flight following the breakdown of pilgrims.
The departure of Sarawak pilgrims will be officiated at by the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud and Toh Puan Ragad Kurdi Taib at the 3rd Floor, Kuching International Airport on 30 July 2017 at 10.00pm.
It will comprise the pilgrims from Kuching who are on the KT19Q flight, Zaiton explained.
On 31 July, the pilgrims from Kuching and Samarahan will be boarding on the KT21Q flight at 2.10am.
Meanwhile, on 1 August, another group of pilgrims will use the flight KT24Q at 2.10am. They will involve the pilgrims from Limbang, Miri, Bintulu and Sri Aman.
On 2 August, pilgrims will be board the KT27Q at 2.10 am. They involve those from Kuching and on 3 August, pilgrims from Sibu, Mukah and Sarikei will use the KT29Q flight, she said.
“This year domestic flights will be managed by THTS and use MAS operations and this is with the help of the MAS doing booking by block booking,” she said.
Zaiton urged pilgrims who are on board of domestic flights from each district to Kuching to come on the same day or arriving one day earlier to Kuching.
Haj pilgrims are also required to report themselves to Kuching International Airport, four (4)hours before the departure for delivery of luggage, housing sticker, health book review, boarding passes and baggage X-ray as well as plastic Liquid Aerosol.
