SERIAN: Eleven people were injured after a van carrying 10 foreign nationals veered off the road and overturned in a ditch along Jalan Balai Ringin-Serian early this morning (Jun 23).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the accident involved only the van, which was carrying 10 foreign passengers and a male driver.
The victims consisted of six men and five women.
It was believed that a woman suffered a fractured leg and another woman sustained injuries to her waist. Meanwhile, the driver and the remaining passengers escaped with just minor injuries.
Firefighters from Serian station were dispatched to the scene, about 14km away, following an emergency call at 5.41am.
Upon arrival, the team assisted paramedics in providing initial treatment to all the victims before transporting to hospital for further treatment.
Three ambulances were deployed to ferry the injured to the hospital.
The team ended the operation at 6.20am.
