BAU: Police arrested 11 men suspected of drug abuse during an early-morning operations conducted at several villages in the Bau district today (Feb 6).
The operations, carried out between 5.30 am and 8.30 am, involved personnel from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division and the District Police Headquarters.
Bau Police Chief, Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman, said the checks were conducted at Kampung Serasot, Kampung Sebobok, Kampung Stass and Kampung Skibang.
The suspects, aged between 21 and 60, were detained for suspected involvement in drug abuse.
“Of the total arrests, four suspects were detained under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 after being found in possession of syabu,” he said in a statement.
He added that initial urine screening tests conducted on all 11 suspects returned positive results for drugs, and they were further detained under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act.
Haide said police would take firm action against any involvement in drug abuse and urged members of the public to provide information related to drug activities.
