KUCHING: Upon the announcement of Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) results nationwide, numerous reactions were shown by the candidates after receiving the outcome yesterday.

SMK St. Thomas, Kuching is one of the Form Six schools whereby six students obtained a CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) of 4.00, one student obtained a CGPA of 3.92 (3A, 1A-) and four students with a CGPA of 3.84 (2A, 2A-).

Evangeline Yii Jia Xin, the eldest of her six siblings, who achieved 4.00 has planned to apply for scholarships to further her study in Law.

“I did not expect to get this 4.00 CGPA result, I’m speechless and happy because most people said that STPM is not easy to score.

“I will apply for scholarship, probably Brickfields Scholarship as well as The Star Education Fund because I see that they provide a lot of tuition fees and others. I am very keen to study Law, and that’s the reason I took literature class,” she said.

Her father is a manager and her mother who is self-employed revealed that her tips for studying was highlighting the gist of the topic instead of studying the elaboration as well as enjoy and not be stressed while studying.

“My advise to those sitting for STPM this year is to not listen to others saying that STPM is difficult to score, because nothing is impossible. Last time I failed my subjects but I was able to rise again and now I achieved my best result,” she added. Shemira Adzhar, youngest of her two siblings, expressed her gratitude for her 4.00 CGPA result.

“I did not expect to get this result but thank God I made it. My advise, when you enter Form Six and you become fully committed in your studies and then anything is possible. Work hard and manage your time properly between socialising and studying.

“As a student, facing difficulties while studying is part of our life, it is just a matter of how you complete your tasks and courseworks, we have to follow the requirements from our teachers, but thankfully I managed to cope with it and everything went well.

“My advise is to be fully committed in Form Six, if not you are just going to waste the one and a half years of study. Work hard and be smart,” she added.

Meanwhile, Nur Ralizah Rosli, second of her four siblings disclosed that she enjoyed every moment of her studies and managed her time very well had enabled her to gain a remarkable 4.00 CGPA result.

“I am so excited and very happy with my result, it is beyond my expectation to get this result. I enjoy my study and manage my time very well, I never forced myself to study hard, but I focus in class, those are my tips.

“Therefore, my advise to those who will sit for the exam this year is to not work hard but work smart, study well and enjoy learning,” she said.

With a father who is a mechanic and a mother who is a full-time housewife, Razilah has planned to further her studies in Law but has yet to decide the university at the moment.
