PAKAN: A total of 112 land titles were handed over to 90 eligible recipients under the Native Customary Rights (NCR) Land Survey programme during an event held at Rumah Jetphare Empali here.
The event, officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, marked another milestone in the state government’s ongoing effort to strengthen the people’s land ownership rights.
Awang Tengah said the government remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring that the NCR land survey process is implemented comprehensively across Sarawak, involving all indigenous communities with legitimate customary land rights.
“As long as there is valid and lawful evidence that the land is NCR land, the government will continue to ensure that the people’s rights are protected through transparent surveying and gazetting processes,” he said during the event on Thursday.
Since the NCR land survey programme began in 2010, the Land and Survey Department (JTS) has successfully conducted perimeter surveys covering 1,217,766 hectares (3.009 million acres) across Sarawak.
Of this, 938,342 hectares (2.3 million acres) have been gazetted under Section 6 of the Sarawak Land Code (SLC).
To date, 105,344 individual lots involving 125,703 hectares (310,618 acres) have been surveyed, with 34,122 lots covering 47,443 hectares (117,234 acres) already issued with titles under Section 18 of the SLC.
Awang Tengah urged all NCR land claimants to cooperate fully with JTS to ensure the smooth progress of the survey process.
“The cooperation of landowners in identifying boundaries, ensuring land is free from disputes, and being present during survey work, is vital to facilitate the gazetting and issuance of individual titles,” he stressed.
