BAU: Twelve individuals, including a woman, were arrested during a series of drug operations carried out by the Bau Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) and Bau police headquarters (IPD) yesterday (Dec 5).
Bau police chief Superintendent Mohd Haide A Rahman said the arrests, made between 7 am and 11.30 am, were conducted under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
“In the first raid at 7 am, officers detained a 49-year-old man at a wooden hut in Kampung Segong, where they seized a packet containing 1.38 grams of crystal substance believed to be syabu.
“A second raid at 7.30 am at an unnumbered house in Jalan Potik, Kampung Apar, led to the arrest of a 38-year-old man and the seizure of two packets containing 0.56 grams of suspected syabu,” he said in a statement.
Between 9.55 am and 10.30 am, officers conducted urine screenings on 11 men and one woman at the NCID office, where all 12 suspects tested positive for methamphetamine or amphetamine.
Those detained ranged from 21 to 49 years old, with several having previous drug-related records.
Police said the two suspects arrested with syabu will be remanded, while all detainees are being held at the Bau police station lock-up for further investigation.
