BAU: Police detained 12 men suspected of drug abuse following a series of checks conducted across several locations here on yesterday morning.
Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A Rahman said the operation was carried out between about 5.30 am and 8.45 am by officers from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) assisted by personnel from the Bau District Police Headquarters.
He said the checks were conducted in the areas of Kampung Lidah Tanah, Kampung Peninjau Baru, Kampung Skiat Baru and Bau town.
“Initial urine screening tests found all 12 suspects, aged between 25 and 55, to be positive for drugs,” he said in a statement.
All suspects were detained under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug abuse.
Mohd Haide said police would take firm action against any involvement in drug abuse and called on the public to assist by providing information.
