KUCHING: A total of 120 Sarawak entrepreneurs have successfully graduated from the INSKEN Bumiputera Business Coaching (IBBC) programme, marking a significant milestone in their entrepreneurial journey and contributing to economic growth in the state.
The programme, conducted over three to four months in Miri, Kuching, Sibu, and Bintulu, led to tangible results including a RM2.5 million increase in sales, the creation of 39 new jobs, and an average 18 per cent profit margin increase among food and beverage businesses.
“What we are witnessing here is more than just numbers. The participants have proven that with the right guidance and discipline, small businesses can scale and succeed,” said Datuk Mustaffa Kamil Ayub, chairman of the Board of Trustees of INSKEN, during the graduation ceremony at Raia Hotel and Convention Centre today.
He added that the programme had achieved a 4.0 return on investment, meaning every RM1 spent on the IBBC initiative generated RM4 in economic return.
“This is a remarkable outcome that shows the real value of investing in grassroots entrepreneurship.”

The IBBC programme is unique in its “By Entrepreneurs, For Entrepreneurs” approach, where participants are mentored by Industry Coaches who are experienced professionals in their respective sectors.
Among the success stories are Kurat Maju, Azelayu Enterprise and Violette Bakery Café, all of which transitioned from micro to small business status.
Mustaffa called on the entrepreneurs to aim higher.
“After this four-month programme, don’t stop. Go Asean, go global. Our products and services have the potential to reach international markets.”
He also emphasised the importance of branding, pricing strategy and the ability to meet market demand, highlighting how countries like South Korea have become global leaders in multiple sectors through discipline and strategic growth.
INSKEN also collaborated with Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) and the Social Welfare Department (JKM) Sarawak in delivering the programme, which aims to strengthen Sarawak’s entrepreneurship ecosystem.
He concluded by urging the graduates to uphold the values of Malaysia Madani, which include sustainability, well-being, innovation, respect, confidence, and compassion — all essential for long-term business success.
“Let this success be the catalyst for more positive initiatives in Sarawak.”
