KUCHING: A total of 120 golfers will compete in the 2025 Petra Jaya P194 Challenge Trophy Golf Tournament, scheduled to take place at Sarawak Golf Club (KGS) this Sunday (Aug 3).
Organising chairman Irwan Zulkarnain Muhammad Hasbie said the participants comprise 40 representatives each from three state constituencies under Petra Jaya, namely Tupong, Samariang, and Satok.
“Registration is now closed, and all three constituencies have confirmed their full line-ups with 40 players each,” he told a press conference here today (July 28).
Now in its 16th edition, the tournament will feature three handicap categories, specifically A (0–14), B (15–20), and C (21–28). A total of 21 trophies and special awards will be presented to outstanding players.
This edition, he said, places greater emphasis on youth players in an effort to cultivate more interest in golf among young people, particularly within the three participating constituencies.
The overall champion will be determined based on the combined scores of the top seven players from each team in every category.
He added kitchen appliances worth RM36,000 have also been lined up as prizes for the winners.
Apart from that, Irwan said there will also be three side events featured in the tournament.
“We will include an individual category, a special guest and invitee category, and a special women’s invitee category,” he added.
The prize presentation ceremony will be officiated by Deputy Prime Minister and Petra Jaya MP Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
