DALAT: A total of 120 recipients of the Sarawak Social Welfare Department (JKMS) were celebrated during the 2025 Sejambak Kasih Christmas event at the Dalat Welfare Complex Hall, here yesterday (Dec 6).
The event, attended by Dalat assemblywoman Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, saw beneficiaries receiving hampers and cash amounting to RM100 each.
“This programme reflects the Sarawak government’s care and concern, organised every festive season across the state,” she said during the ceremony.
The Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development also highlighted that JKMS will continue to play a vital role in ensuring citizens receive full support and assistance.
From Jan to Nov 2025, RM23,867,250 was disbursed under various monthly aid schemes to 4,500 recipients in the Mukah Division.
For Dalat alone, JKMS distributed RM8,162,200 to 1,460 beneficiaries during the same period.
Fatimah also handed over Phase 3 of the Minor Rural Project (MRP) 2025 to 15 recipients, with a total allocation of RM551,400.
JKMS director Semawi Mohamad said the Sejambak Kasih programme is an annual event organised by divisions across Sarawak, including Mukah.
“In Mukah Division alone, 954 people received Christmas aid this year, mostly Melanau Christians,” he said.
