KUCHING: An integrated operation at an entertainment centre recently resulted in 13 patrons being arrested for drug use and one supervisor detained for regulatory violations.
Codenamed ‘Ops Pusat Hiburan’ and ‘Ops Noda’, the Criminal Investigation Division (CID), Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID), and Padungan police station raided the outlet in Petanak.
A total of 46 individuals, both men and women, were inspected during the operation.
Preliminary tests found 13 individuals tested positive for drugs and were taken into custody under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
The premises’ male supervisor was also detained for allegedly operating the centre beyond permitted hours. Several musical equipment was seized for further investigation under Section 24 of the Entertainment Ordinance 2001.
Kuching police assured that continuous monitoring and enforcement will be carried out to ensure entertainment outlets comply with operating hours and remain free from drug-related activities.
Such an operation aims to safeguard public safety and community well-being through law enforcement efforts.
