TANJUNG MANIS: Students on their way to school in Kampung Jerijih had an unexpected encounter this morning when they stumbled upon a 13-foot-long python enjoying its breakfast.

The students noticed the massive reptile coiled around a cat, presumably its latest meal, on the concrete footbridge around 7 am.

Shocked and alarmed, they quickly informed the villagers, who alerted APM Tanjung Manis.

APM Tanjung Manis district officer Lt Md Azan Sadie said a three-man team was dispatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call around 7.09 am.

Upon arrival, they discovered the python hiding in the bushes near the bridge and captured the creature using a snake tong.

He said the reptile was not aggressive during the capture as it just had its meal.

The reptile was later released back into its original habitat, far from residential areas.
