MIRI: Police arrested 13 local men on Tuesday for allegedly being involved in cock-fighting.
Acting on information received, a team from the district’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) led by Inspector Nasrul Hadi Jahat raided an area at Jalan Pujut Padang Kerbau around 3.00pm and made the arrests. Miri Deputy Police chief, Supt Stanley Jonathan Ringgit confirmed the arrests and said the suspects, aged between 23 and 62, were taken to Miri Central Police Station for questioning.
“The police also seized three live cockerels, a whiteboard, and a digital weighing scale. The case is being investigated under Section 3 (1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Ordinance, 1962,” he said.
