BINTULU: One hundred and thirty sawmill workers at Kuala Segan, Jalan Bintulu-Tatau were left homeless after a fire completely destroyed three workers’ quarters yesterday.
According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue department (Bomba) operation centre, two fire engines carrying 11 firemen from Bintulu fire station were rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 2.42am.
Upon their arrival at the scene, the quarters were already engulfed in flames.
Firemen managed to save three other quarters about 20 feet away from the scene.
No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.
The flames were totally put under controlled at 7.20am. The actual cause and loss incurred in the fire is being investigated.
