SARIKEI: Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii, continues to boost grassroots development through the People-Friendly Programme (PMR) 2025.

Five longhouse construction material supply projects were completed, benefiting 133 households. These initiatives aim to improve living conditions, carry out maintenance, and enhance structural safety.

“The government always prioritises basic needs. Through PMR, we ensure assistance reaches communities directly, improving housing safety, comfort, and residents’ quality of life.

“The projects reflect the government’s commitment to inclusive and balanced development, particularly in rural areas, bridging gaps between urban and village communities.

“Among the longhouses receiving aid are Rh Tunjang Naga, Rh Anggok, Rh Rendu China, Rh Sumpun Rampai, and Rh Johnson Edwin, benefiting hundreds of residents,” Huang said.

Representing Huang, Wong Soon Mee led his service centre team along with officers from the Sarawak State Development Office (SDO) to inspect project sites around Bintangor.

The team witnessed the handover of completed construction material supply projects, observing firsthand the improvements in living conditions and the positive community impact.

SDO officer Nur Syahida, together with Tuai Rumah Kinchu Ajan and local residents, also attended, highlighting community participation in the successful implementation of the projects.

Huang emphasised that such projects will continue regularly, aligning with rural development agendas to raise community welfare and enhance overall living standards.

The programme not only upgrades housing infrastructure but also strengthens the relationship between the government and rural communities, reinforcing trust, cooperation, and long-term social benefits.

With PMR 2025, authorities aim to ensure equitable development, emphasising that every rural household, regardless of location, receives adequate support for safer and more comfortable living.
