MIRI: A 14-hour multi-agency crime prevention operation here saw 77 vehicles inspected and four summonses issued for motor vehicle offences, including driving without a licence and the use of non-compliant registration plates.
The operation, conducted by the Miri District Police Headquarters (IPD Miri), began at 2 pm on Friday (Sept 25) and continued until 4 am today (Sept 26) across several locations within the district.
A total of 59 police and enforcement personnel from the Police, Royal Malaysian Customs Department and Miri City Council (MCC) took part in the operation.
During the operation, enforcement teams carried out checks on premises, members of the public and vehicles at locations identified as requiring closer monitoring.
The mobile roadblock resulted in four summonses being issued under Police Form 257.
One involved driving without a valid driving licence, while the other three were issued for offences involving vehicle registration plates, including the use of fancy plates.
Separately, MCC compounded one premises for placing tables and chairs without approval from the local authority.
No arrests or seizures were made in connection with the enforcement action.
The operation was part of ongoing joint enforcement efforts by the police and relevant agencies to strengthen crime prevention, enhance public safety and maintain public order throughout the IPD Miri’s administrative area.
IPD Miri said integrated operations and enforcement checks would continue to be conducted from time to time as part of efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
The latest operation also highlights the continued coordination between police and other enforcement agencies in addressing offences and regulatory breaches across the district.
