14-year old judoka Ethan Lee secures Championship silver

KUCHING: Sarawakian Judoka Ethan Lee Ming Hao secured a silver medal win at the Terrengganu Open Judo Championship 2025, further cementing the budding  athlete’s rise in the sport.

Held at Stadium Tertutup Kompleks Sukan Negeri Terengganu from 20-22 Feb, the Sarawak Judo Association (PJS) athlete’s path to silver was hard-fought as each judoka faced off against their weight-class counterparts, with points awarded based on successful throws.

Having competed in the Youth Category Under-15 (-50kg), Ethan Lee was elated to finish his championship stint with a silver win as it showcased his dedication towards his training.

“Winning this silver medal means a lot to me. It is a testament to the effort and dedication I’ve put into my training.

“Having practicing Judo for a year and half, this experience has motivated me to push even harder and aim for gold in the future,” Ethan Lee shared with Sarawak Tribune today.

According to his PE teacher from Borneo International School, Abang Badrulhisham, Ethan Lee had followed a rigorous training regimen, including intense physical conditioning, technical drills and mental preparation prior to the championship.

“His focus on strength, agility, and technique paid dividends in the tournament,” he shared.

With this silver medal, Ethan Lee has set the stage for greater achievements in the coming year.
