LUNDU: A total of 143 recipients from Kampung Sileng Melayu here received Christmas contributions and Back-to-School assistance during a ceremony at the Mahligai Gading Multipurpose Hall here on Sunday.
Tanjong Datu assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan expressed appreciation to the Sarawak government for its continued support for education, noting that assistance was provided from primary school level through to institutions of higher learning.
“The assistance covers basic schooling needs such as clothing, learning materials and other support, helping to ease the burden on parents and guardians,” he said during the ceremony.
Of the total recipients, 23 ‘asnaf’ (needy) individuals and 20 children received contributions in conjunction with the Christmas celebration while another 100 beneficiaries received school bags under the Back-to-School initiative to help them prepare for the upcoming school session.
On the same note, Azizul also encouraged eligible students to apply for educational assistance through the Yayasan Sarawak portal, including applications for laptop assistance.
He added that the Tanjong Datu Service Centre remained ready to assist applicants who faced difficulties or confusion during the application process.
Additionally, he reminded the management of houses of worship to submit complete reports to the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) each time a grant was received.
He stressed that compliance with reporting guidelines was vital to facilitate future applications.
