BALAI RINGIN: A total of 150 former members of the now-defunct Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) from three villages here have applied to join Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), signalling a significant grassroots shift in the constituency.
The members, from Kampung Munggu Demam, Kampung Kesindu Jaya and Kampung Lemujong, submitted their application forms during a meet-the-people session at Rumah Lipeh Mawi in Kampung Munggu Demam over the weekend.
The applications were presented to Balai Ringin assemblyman Datuk Snowdan Lawan in the presence of village headmen and residents.
In a joint statement, the group pledged their support to Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), expressing confidence in the coalition’s leadership and its track record in advancing rural development and strengthening infrastructure.
They said their decision was guided by the need for political stability and sustained progress, particularly in improving basic amenities and enhancing connectivity in their villages.
Snowdan described the move as a strong endorsement of the government’s rural transformation agenda and a boost to grassroots unity in Balai Ringin.
“This reflects the people’s confidence in a government that remains committed to delivering tangible development and safeguarding the wellbeing of rural communities,” he said in a statement today.
He added that close cooperation between community leaders and the state government is crucial in ensuring development initiatives continue to benefit the people effectively.
