BELAGA: A total of 16 landslide locations were identified along Jalan Menjawah Belaga, with several areas in critical condition and requiring immediate action.
The locations were identified through a report after the Belaga District Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) conducted a site survey of landslide locations along Jalan Menjawah Belaga to Jalan Jiwa Murni from Belaga to Long Dungan recently.
The survey, led by Kapit Division Resident, Elvis Didit, was also attended by Belaga District Officer, Bidah Lujah, Belaga District Police chief, DSP Jimbai Bala, and Belaga Public Works Department (PWD) officer, James Dana.
Meanwhile, on Jalan Jiwa Murni Nanga Merit, the survey could only be carried out up to Sungai Dungan, where three landslide locations were marked for urgent attention by the contractor responsible for the road.
The site survey aimed to assess the extent of damage and determine short-term and long-term solutions by relevant agencies, especially by PWD.
The increasingly serious landslide situation is feared to worsen if the rain continues, potentially cutting off the main route to and from Belaga.
