BAU: Traffic police have issued 17 summonses for various traffic offences and impounded a motorcycle during an enforcement operation last Friday (Oct 17).
The operation, codenamed ‘Ops Motosikal’, was held from 9 pm until 1.30 am at Jalan Bau–Singai (Redeems area), Jalan Bau–Batu Kawa, Bau Market, Siniawan town and Jalan Bau–Serasot/Stass.
Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A Rahman said a total of 30 individuals and 25 motorcycles were inspected throughout the operation.
“As a result, police issued 17 summonses for multiple offences — driving without a valid licence (four), missing side mirrors (four), expired road tax (four), illegal modifications (three), and failure to wear a helmet (two).
“In addition, a motorcycle was also seized under Section 64 of the Road Transport Act 1987 during checks at Bau Market,” he said.
Following this, Mohd Haide urged all road users, particularly motorcyclists, to adhere to traffic laws and prioritise safety.
He also advised parents to monitor their children and discourage them from engaging in illegal street activities on public roads.
Bau police will continue conducting regular enforcement operations and encourage the public to share information on street racing or illegal gatherings via 082-763311.
