MIRI: A total of 180 civil servants from 16 departments and agencies received the state Loyal Service Medals in a ceremony officiated by the Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, today (Apr 24).
The ceremony held at Hotel Mega Miri was the third held in 2026, involving recipients from 11 state government departments and five federal agencies as recognition of their dedicated service.
Among those listed as recipients with more than 39 years of service were Richard Jabon from the Forest Department Sarawak (39 years), Lee Bu Chong (40 years), Kalanah Bagol (40 years), Felix Druce (40 years), and Nilan Taygng (41 years), all from the Miri City Council.
In addition, the list of recipients also included representatives from various agencies such as the Miri Divisional Resident’s Office, Sarawak Public Works Department, Forest Department Sarawak, Sarawak Department of Irrigation and Drainage, and Sarawak Department of Agriculture.
Also included were recipients from municipal and district councils in the Miri Division, Miri Port Authority, Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation, Sarawak State Registration Department, Sarawak Immigration Department, Royal Malaysian Customs Department, Sarawak State Health Department, and Sarawak State Education Department.
The ceremony reflected the government’s appreciation for the commitment and loyalty of civil servants in delivering the best services to the people, while supporting the state’s continuous development agenda.
Earlier, the Premier of Sarawak performed Friday prayers at Masjid At-Taqwa Miri shortly after arriving from Miri Airport before attending the ceremony.
Also present were Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, and State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.
