BAU: A 19-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl in Kampung Skiat Baru here.
Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the suspect is believed to have committed the offence three times between Feb 14 and Feb 17 while the victim was staying at his house.
“The victim later returned home and informed her mother of what had happened, prompting a police report to be lodged,” he said in a statement.
The girl was subsequently taken for a medical examination at Sarawak General Hospital, which confirmed the presence of both old and recent tears.
The suspect, who works as a general labourer, has been detained and will be remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The case is being investigated under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code.
