SIMANGGANG: A total of 19,680 senior citizens nationwide benefited from the Sports Toto Malaysia (STM) Lottery Sdn Bhd Angpau Donation Campaign, which was held over six days in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations.
According to STM Lottery, the campaign is part of the company’s Chinese New Year community outreach programme, implemented across 50 cities and towns throughout Malaysia.
“This year’s six-day angpau donation campaign benefited approximately 19,680 underprivileged senior citizens nationwide.
“Under the Helping Hands programme, STM Lottery allocated about RM1.53 million to implement this charitable initiative,” the company said in a statement today.
Through this initiative, STM aims to ensure that less fortunate senior citizens are able to celebrate the festive season with warmth and happiness.

The campaign is also one of STM Lottery’s longest-running community programmes, reflecting the company’s continued commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) as well as Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles.
In this regard, STM Lottery continues to play an active role in supporting social sustainability by engaging with local communities, particularly underprivileged senior citizens.
In Sri Aman, the company brought festive cheer and support to 100 senior citizens from the local community.
The symbolic presentation event was officiated by Senior Manager, Micheal Chee Hock Howe.
Each recipient received an angpau, a festive hamper and mandarin oranges, symbolising STM Lottery’s goodwill and best wishes for health, prosperity and happiness in conjunction with the Chinese New Year.
Notably, the contributions were not limited to the Chinese community but were also extended to senior citizens of various ethnic backgrounds, in line with the spirit of unity and harmony in Malaysia’s multiracial society.

One of the recipients, Nau Tandang, said the contribution was very meaningful to her.
“I am very grateful for this assistance. The angpau and hamper help ease daily burdens, especially for my Chinese friends who will be celebrating the festive season,” she said.
Meanwhile, Lang Udang expressed his appreciation that the programme included senior citizens from different ethnic groups.
“Although I am not Chinese, I still received assistance. This truly reflects a strong spirit of goodwill and care,” he added.
Lucy Gani also shared her joy, describing the programme as proof of the company’s concern for the welfare of senior citizens.
She stressed that programmes like this make senior citizens feel appreciated and not forgotten. She also expressed her gratitude to STM Lottery for organising such a meaningful programme.
Also present was Sales Executive, Florence Loo Yi Yuh.
