SARIKEI: The Immigration Enforcement Unit (UPI) Sarikei detained twenty male foreign nationals during a two-day operation codenamed Ops Sapu and Ops Mahir, carried out from May 21 to 22.
In a statement today, the Immigration Department said 14 enforcement officers conducted checks at various locations here and in Julau.
“During the operation, 40 individuals were inspected and 20 foreign nationals were detained for further investigation over suspected immigration offences,” it said.
The department reminded the public not to employ or harbour undocumented migrants.
“Community cooperation is vital to ensure immigration laws are upheld,” it added.
