MIRI: A 20-year-old man was killed in a road traffic accident in the early hours of Sunday morning (April 13) along the Miri By-Pass.
Miri District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the accident occurred around 5 am as the victim was riding his motorcycle from Vista Perdana towards the airport.
It is believed that he lost control of his motorcycle and fell onto the roadway.
He was then struck from behind by another motorcycle ridden by a 17-year-old boy.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, but despite their efforts, the 20-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Miri General Hospital.
Authorities have opened an investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving resulting in death.
