LAWAS: A total of 200 registered asnaf received special Ramadan contributions during the Ziarah Ramadan Programme organised by the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA).

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan commended LCDA for their commitment to assisting those in need, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

He highlighted that the contributions were distributed through the wakalah concept, where LCDA acts as a representative to ensure zakat reaches the rightful recipients in an organised and systematic manner.

“This initiative not only provides aid but also strengthens the bond between government agencies and the community.

“I hope this programme continues to reinforce the government’s commitment to helping the underprivileged,” he said during the event at Hotel Seri Malaysia Lawas yesterday (Mar 8).

He also encouraged more government agencies and government-linked companies (GLCs) to engage in welfare efforts and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

“With increased revenue, we can channel more assistance to the community. This is part of our ongoing efforts to develop the state and improve the well-being of the people,” he added.

The annual programme serves as a platform to deliver aid while promoting compassion and solidarity within society, aligning with the government’s vision of fostering a harmonious and prosperous Sarawak.
