200 attend forum on literature

KUCHING: A forum called ‘Forum Arah Tuju Sastera Sarawak’ was held at Balai Budaya, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Cawangan Sarawak, Petra Jaya, here yesterday which attracted more than 200 people comprising local writers, civil servants and students from Kolej Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdullah, Sekolah Seni Sarawak, SMK (A) Tun Ahmad Zaidi and Polytechnic Kuching.

The forum also brought together a four-member panel namely a writer of the hit TV drama series ‘Jangan Benci Cintaku’, Dr Emelyne anak Bani Jam, William Chan Khun Neng, Poul Nanggang, Clayton Robert and moderator Mohd Ali Salim.

Deputy Director of DBP Sarawak, Haliza Jamaluddin in her speech when officiating at the forum said that the main objectives of the forum were to disseminate knowledge on local literature, arts and culture through talks, and promoting them to all Malaysians through writing.
