SIBU: About 20,000 people from all walks of life are expected to converge on Sibu Town Square on Dec 31 to usher in the New Year 2025, with renowned singer Azlan Typewriter making an appearance.
Among others who will perform at the event are Bell Yu Tian, Daniel Cheah, DJ Chaca Ferozha, D’Crystal Band, Lucy M, Amazing-X, and a special performance by the top five finalists of the Arena of Dreams (Grand Finale), namely &DIOS, Si Qin Wu, The One Dance Studio, Ling Team, and The Link Martial Arts.
According to organising chairperson Councillor Michelle Law, the theme for this year is all about a laid-back, casual party atmosphere that fosters community togetherness and promotes unity among all races and cultures.
“It is a time to come together, share memories, and embrace the joy of starting a new year in the spirit of harmony and togetherness,” she told reporters at the Sibu Municipal Council meeting room at Wisma Sanyan here today.
The guest of honour for the event will be Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee.
Law added that apart from musical performances, the public can also expect a balloonist clown and magic show, a musical fireworks display, a 1,000 LED glow stick giveaway to the audience, and a family-friendly environment.
“We invite everyone to join us at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang, Phase One, on Dec 31, at the main stage.
“Celebrate with great company, music, and excitement as we ring in the new year together. Let us celebrate unity, diversity, and the start of a new year filled with hope and opportunity,” she said.
Entry to the event which starts at 8 pm is free.
