SIBU: A total of 21 participants attended the “Sugu Tinggi” Skills Training Programme held at Santabelle Enterprise, Jalan Permai Utara here.
The free programme, which started on June 19 and ended on Saturday, was organised by Mitz Agency and supported by the Sarawak Craft Council (SCC).

“Sugu Tinggi”, which translates to “High Comb” or “Headdress” in English, refers to the tall, ornate silver headgear worn by Iban women in Sarawak, especially during traditional ceremonies like the Gawai Dayak.
Mitz Agency’s chief facilitator and founder, Roselind Ngali said the programme was well received by the participants and was a success.
” Twenty one participants took the course even though we limited it to 20 participants initially.
“Of these 21 participants, four are male participants who have an interest in making handicrafts,” she told reporters after the closing ceremony of the programme.
Roselind also hoped that participants would continue to be active in producing “Sugu Tinggi” to generate and increase their own income and that of their families.
In the meantime, she also thanked SCC for its support in ensuring the programme’s success.
Apart from Roselind, the other instructors consist of Natalie Dayut, Patricia Limau and Patricia Ngali.
