MUKAH: A total of 234 runners will vie for cash prizes totalling RM11,120 in the inaugural Mukah Ta’un Bao Run 2025 (MTBR2025) tomorrow (Jan 1).
Organised by the Melanau Mukah Association, the event is being held in conjunction with the New Year 2025 celebration.
According to organising chairperson Mazira Ramli, the MTBR2025 aims to become a permanent feature in the association’s annual calendar alongside the Kaul Mukah Festival, scheduled for April.
Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine is slated to flag off the 10km and 5km races at Dataran Pehin Setia Raja Mukah.
Winners in the 10km categories — Men Open, Men Senior, Women Open, and Women Senior — will each take home RM600, with RM400 for second place and RM200 for third place.
Meanwhile, winners of the 5km categories will receive RM300, followed by RM200 and RM100 for the second and third places, respectively.
Cash prizes will also be awarded to the top 10 finishers in both races.
