Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 4 chief Andy Alie confirmed that no other injuries or casualties were reported as the remaining occupants managed to evacuate to safety.

Meanwhile, firefighters from Sibu central and Sungai Merah stations were promptly deployed to the scene following an emergency call.

“Upon arrival, they found one of the houses destroyed 100 per cent, two others were 50 per cent damaged, and four vehicles completely destroyed.

“The flames were brought under control at 2.40 am using water sourced from a nearby fire hydrant, followed by overhaul works to prevent any potential reignition,” he said.

The team concluded the operation at 3.50 am.
