MIRI: In line with the state’s aspiration to empower youths through sports, the Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) Telang Usan Branch, in collaboration with Baram Football Club, has scheduled the Telang Usan Futsal Cup 2025 for Sept 5 and 6 at SJK (C) Kee Tee Hall, Long Lama.

The two-day tournament, to be held under the SABERKAS Sports Carnival (KASUS) Telang Usan, will see 24 teams from across the district battling for top honours.

Among the participating sides are Vamos FC, Botanic FT, Ya Salam FC, Long Lama FT, Kelapang FC, and Long Kevok FC.

To boost competition, attractive prizes have been lined up, with the champion receiving RM1,500 along with a Challenge Trophy and medals, the first runner-up receiving RM1,000 and medals, the third-place winner receiving RM800 and medals, and the fourth-place winner receiving RM500 and medals.

Beyond the rewards, the organisers noted that the championship aims to promote a healthy lifestyle, inclusivity, and unity through sport, while also discovering new talents who may one day represent Baram at higher levels.

Organising Committee chairman Spanski Steven expressed his hope that the Telang Usan Futsal Cup 2025 will not only showcase the sporting potential of local youths but also strengthen bonds among communities.

“I expect this tournament to be a platform where our young players can display their skills, gain valuable experience, and build the confidence to compete at higher levels.

“More importantly, I wish to see fair play, sportsmanship, and respect prevailing throughout the games,” he told Sarawak Tribune when contacted today (Aug 23).

He added that the championship could further position Telang Usan as a district with strong sporting potential, particularly in futsal, while inspiring more youths to pursue an active and healthy lifestyle.

The organisers also invited the public to attend, support their favourite teams, and be part of the sporting carnival in Long Lama.
