SIMUNJAN: The Forest Department Sarawak (FDS), in partnership with Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB), concluded their 2025 collaboration by planting 2,500 indigenous tree saplings at Sabal Forest Reserve yesterday (Nov 27).
The tree-planting activity marks the final project under this year’s FDS-SEB partnership and forms part of SEB’s 10-Year Integrated Planting, Protection and Habitat Conservation Campaign (2021-2030), which supports the Greening Sarawak Campaign led by FDS and aligns with the national Greening Malaysia Agenda.
High-value native species, including kapur, meranti and selangan were planted to enhance biodiversity, strengthen forest resilience and support long-term ecological restoration within the reserve.
About 100 participants from SEB, FDS and local communities took part in the event.
SEB was represented by Domino Brennet Preddy, assistant manager for Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE), while FDS was represented by Rohanie Bohan from the Restoration and Industrial Forest Division.
Both agencies reaffirmed their commitment to continue the collaboration over the next five years, advancing joint restoration efforts and contributing to Sarawak’s long-term environmental stewardship goals.
