KUCHING: The streets around Padang Merdeka here came alive this morning as 2,500 participants gathered for the Merdeka Spirit Run 2025, marking one of the largest Merdeka-themed running events in Sarawak this year.
Organised by JVY Event Management in collaboration with Kuching North City Commission (DBKU), with Checkpoint Spot as the technical partner and MILO Nestlé as a key collaborator in conjunction with its 75th anniversary, the event drew enthusiastic support from people of all ages and backgrounds.

He also expressed hope that the event would serve as a lasting symbol of Sarawak’s strength in unity and the collective spirit of Malaysians.
In conjunction with the event, the September 2025 edition of Car-Free Morning was also held, featuring a variety of activities focused on health, leisure and family fun for the Kuching community.
