SIBU: The Lions Club of Sibu Pahlawan (LCSP) is set to host a three-day ASEAN Lions Leaders’ Summit from Feb 20 to 22, 2025, at Kingwood Hotel here, in conjunction with its 25th anniversary.
Organising chairperson Jamie Tiew said the event will draw Lions leaders from across the region, including China, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Brunei, Sri Lanka, and various parts of Malaysia.
“Notably, two International Directors from Lions Clubs International—Zhao Dong from Shenyang, China, and Datuk Yeoh Wah Chin from Kuala Lumpur—will be attending,” she said during a committee meeting today (Dec 30).
Other distinguished guests include Council chairpersons from various districts in Thailand, Malaysia, China, Singapore, and the Philippines, as well as Sri Lanka.
Tiew added that the summit will also welcome Past Council chairpersons, Past District governors, Cabinet officers, Clubs presidents, and Lions members from District 308-A2.
LCSP president Steady Tiau Kiu Ung revealed that over 340 participants have registered for the summit, while the 25th Silver Jubilee Banquet on Feb 22 at the Kingwood Hotel has attracted over 620 attendees.
“I am hoping for even greater participation from Lions members across the ASEAN region and locally in Sibu to celebrate this historic milestone,” he said.
Tiau expressed gratitude to the club’s parent Club – Lions Club of Sibu Mandarin, as well as seven sponsoring clubs.
He acknowledged the invaluable support and assistance from past and present club leaders, particularly Past District governors Datuk Betty Wong Yieng, Augustine Ngu, Kapitan Connie Loh Ming Hua, and Roland Chieng.
Among those present at the meeting were Lions International District 308-A2 2nd Vice District governor Datuk Jimmy Tie, LCSP treasurer Ngu Tai Hing, Region 3 chairperson Peter Goh, and Past District 308-A2 governors Datuk Betty Wong Yieng, Augustine Ngu, and Roland Chieng.
