KUCHING: A total of 26 foreign nationals were arrested during an immigration enforcement operation conducted around the city on April 1 and 2.

The Immigration Department said those detained were suspected of committing various offences, including working without valid permits or passes.

Most of them were found working at food premises, which were among the main targets of the operation dubbed as ‘Ops Selera’.

The operation, carried out by 29 immigration officers, also focused on several premises believed to be running illegal gambling activities behind eateries in the Jalan Green area.

All detainees have been taken in for further action, while enforcement efforts will continue to curb immigration offences and illegal activities in the city.
