BAU: Twenty-six recipients including village committees, houses of worship and schools received support through a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund disbursement here
The assistance aims to strengthen community wellbeing in areas affected by quarry activities.
The initiative also reflects a continued commitment to helping residents living near quarry sites and supporting local institutions that serve the community.
The event on Friday was graced by Serembu assemblyman, Datuk Miro Simuh, who highlighted the importance of collaborative support to ensure community facilities and welfare were not compromised by the impact of heavy industrial operations.
He also called on quarry operators in Bau to take greater responsibility, including repairing damaged roads caused by heavy vehicle movements, and emphasised that CSR allocations should be managed wisely for the benefit of local communities.
Land and Survey Kuching Divisional Office Superintendent, Awang Nazri Awang Saperi, explained that the CSR initiative aimed to mitigate the effects of quarry activities on surrounding residents while maintaining a balance between development and community wellbeing.
He said ongoing engagement through CSR funding had helped improve facilities and ease the burden of affected villagers.
A total of RM289,000 was distributed to the 26 recipients during the ceremony.
The event also featured the presentation of the Sarawak Bumiputera Recognition Certificate to 10 recipients from the Serembu constituency.
