MUKAH: A total of 266 participants took part in the 2023 Mukah Fun Run Programme, which was held to celebrate the 60th Sarawak Independence Day at the Mukah District level on Saturday.
The programme was organised by the Malaysian Information Department (JaPen) Mukah, along with the Malaysian Government Servants’ Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK) Mukah.

JaPen Mukah officer Syahrulizan Madian said that the fun run covered a distance of 5.4 kilometres and welcomed participants from places like Kuching, Sibu, Miri, and Bintulu.
It began at 6.30 am and was launched by Mukah Deputy Resident Shafrie Saili.
Syahrulizan thanked to all involved parties for their support and commitment in making the programme a success.
In the men’s category, Goliath Valeron secured the top position, with Ling Tai Ming as the runner-up, and Alif Zaini in third place.
For the women’s category, Hii Win Nie emerged as the champion, followed by Yunizer Suhaili as the runner-up, and Imbot Sibat in third place.
The winners in each category received a cash prize of RM300, while the runner-up received RM200, and the third-place winner got RM100, along with medals.

Goliath was really happy at winning the men’s category after putting in much effort and training for the run. He was excited to achieve his target of completing five kilometres in under 18 minutes.
Goliath, who comes from Bintulu, hoped that long-distance fun runs like this would be held more frequently, especially during Sarawak Day celebrations.
Similarly, Hii, who came all the way from Bintulu for the fun run, shared her joy at becoming the champion. She hopes that Sarawak keeps progressing in every way, especially during Sarawak Day.
