277 merchants sign up as KGC strategic partners

KUCHING: A total of 277 merchants in the Kuching division have been registered as strategic partners of the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC).

Women, Childhood, and Community Well-being Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said this highlights the initiative’s effectiveness in enhancing the quality of life for senior citizens in Sarawak.

“Among the benefits and privileges of the KGC are discounts, rebates or free fees for goods and services offered by 966 merchants across the state, which include private sector businesses and commercial centers that are strategic partners of the KGC.

“In the Kuching division, notable strategic partners offer diverse benefits, RM1 discount on regular laksa (dine-in only) at Mr. Chua Special Seafood Fish Noodle Laksa, where the regular price is RM6, with one card valid for one regular laksa.

“Emart offers free membership (registration and renewal) for KGC holders, valid for three years and renewable at no cost upon presenting the KGC while Mydin also provides free membership for all KGC holders, along with benefits from the Meriah Card and exclusive monthly promotions,” she said.

She said this when officiating at the KCG and Senior Citizen Health Benefits (SCHB) registration programme and engagement session with the service centres of Sarawak members of parliament and state assemblymen, organisations or associations, and NGOs in the Kuching division 2024 here yesterday (Dec 8).

She added that Eyesight Optic offers a 10 per cent discount on the total bill for KGC holders and Ease Physiotherapy Sdn Bhd provides discounts of 15 per cent to 30 per cent per session on physiotherapy services and special rates for packages.

“Black Coral Sdn Bhd offers a 10 per cent discount on various dental services, including scaling, whitening, fillings, and extractions, as well as a RM300 rebate for implants and braces.

“Tay Motors (M) Sdn Bhd provides a six per cent discount on motor and vehicle insurance, the Waterfront Hotel gives a 10 per cent discount on bookings made through the hotel’s website for a maximum of two nights’ stay, excluding peak seasons.

“Finally, Normah Medical Specialist Centre offers a 10 per cent discount on hospital charges (excluding doctor fees and dialysis), special rates for food and beverages at the cafeteria, and 10 per cent off facials, massages, and dental services (excluding surgical procedures),” she said.

The KGC initiative has seen 306,587 senior citizens registered as card holders across Sarawak since its introduction in 2020, with 85,832 holders in the Kuching division as of November 2024.
