29 summonses issued in Ops Motosikal

SRI AMAN: Traffic police issued 29 summonses for various traffic offenses during an operation codenamed ‘Ops Motosikal’ on Saturday.

Sri Aman police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said that the operation, involving 19 officers, was conducted from 4.30 pm to 8.00 pm along Jalan Lingga-Stumbin.

During the operation, the team inspected 19 motorcycles and 23 motorists.

“As a result, 29 traffic summonses were issued, and seven motorcycles were confiscated under Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for various offences,” he said.

Among the offences detected were failing to wear a helmet (eight cases), failure to have rear-view mirrors (five cases), having modified exhausts (five cases), failing to display license plates (three cases), having modified equipment structures (three cases), failing to possess driver’s licenses (three cases), failing to display ‘P’ stickers (two cases).

He added that the operation was carried out in response to public complaints on social media and the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol (VSP) app to combat illegal racing.
