KUCHING: A total of 300 jasmine trees were distributed and planted in seven villages under the “Kampung Heritage” programme.
The distribution of the trees was an initiative under the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) Clean, Beautiful and Safe (CBS) Plan
The seven villages are Kampung Masjid, Kampung Bintangor Besar, Kampung Bintangor Kecil, Kampung Bandarsah, Kampung No 4, Kampung No 5 and Kampung No 6.
Deputy State Secretary, Datuk Dr Sabariah Putit said the objective of the programme was to beautify the Kampung Heritage areas through planting activities.
“It is also to make the community appreciate a green environment.
“The jasmine trees will make the villages look wonderful,” she added during the distribution ceremony at Kampung Masjid yesterday.
She added the “Kampung Heritage” areas would be part of the tourist attractions during the Visit Sarawak Year campaign next year.
Also present was DBKU Mayor, Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai.
