SARIKEI: Around 300 Form Four students of SMK St Anthony gained valuable insights into post-SPM education and career pathways during the Nyambung Blaja: Education Outreach 2025 (NBEO 2025) workshop on Saturday.

The half-day programme held at the school aimed to equip students, particularly those from underprivileged or rural backgrounds, with the knowledge, motivation and resources to plan their futures.

SMK St Anthony’s principal Vincent Liong praised the programme and encouraged more future similar engagements.

Students were grouped into three main clusters based on academic streams and attended concurrent workshops covering STEM Workshop, Law & Humanities, TVET and Education or IPG Workshop (How to become a teacher?).

The workshop featured interactive talks, breakout discussions and the distribution of digital resources on tertiary pathways, scholarships, and skill development, with all students actively participating in Q&A sessions and group activities.

The programme’s success was reflected in the students’ enthusiasm, with many expressing interest in exploring new fields and several reaching out to speakers for follow-up advice via Instagram and WhatsApp.

In the school reports issued yesterday, feedback from teachers and students indicated greater awareness of non-traditional education routes, especially TVET and technical careers.

The principal  praised the programme and encouraged more future similar engagements.

For the record, NBEO 2025, organised by the Persatuan Mahasiswa Sarawak University Malaya (PMSUM) and the Sarawak Student Association – United Kingdom (SSA-UK), and endorsed by Sarawak Volunteers, will continue at SMK Muara Tuang, Kota Samarahan on August 23.
