MUKAH: A total of 300 asnaf from 15 villages within the Daro constituency received contributions during the ‘Majlis Santunan Asnaf Ramadan Al-Mubarak 1447H’ event at Al-Muhsinin Mosque, Daro, on Saturday (Feb 28).

The programme was organised to ease the burden of underprivileged families and ensure they are able to prepare for and observe the fasting month more comfortably.

Daro state assemblyman Dr Safiee Ahmad said the programme was part of ongoing efforts to ensure that the welfare of the underprivileged continues to be prioritised, particularly in helping them prepare for the fasting month more comfortably.

“Ramadan not only teaches Muslims about patience and reflection, but also serves as a reminder for society to remain attentive to the needs of the less fortunate,” he said in his speech at the event.

He also emphasised that it is a shared responsibility to ensure that the asnaf community is not marginalised and is able to experience the joy and blessings of the holy month.

Safiee, who is also chairman of the Daro Malay Welfare Trust Board (LAKMD), expressed appreciation to all parties involved in making the programme a success, including government agencies, welfare organisations and private sector contributors who consistently extend assistance to those in need.

He added that such initiatives not only provide essential aid but also strengthen unity and the spirit of togetherness among the people of Daro.

During the event, Safiee presented cash contributions and dates to the recipients, along with five-kilogramme rice packs sponsored by Daro Freshmart Prosper Sdn Bhd to help support their daily needs throughout Ramadan.

The event was further enlivened by a Ramadan talk titled ‘Ramadan Membina Kekuatan Ummah’ delivered by Daro District Islamic Religious Officer, Anas Sarip.
