LUNDU: A total of 31 asnaf recipients from eight villages in the Sampadi Zone received Ramadan aid during a contribution programme held at the Darul Ibadah Mosque here.
Azizul Annuar Adenan, the state assemblyman for Tanjong Datu, said the initiative is an annual programme aimed at supporting underprivileged families across the Lundu area during the holy month of Ramadan.
He explained that the programme rotates across four zones in Lundu – Sematan, Lundu, Pandan and Sampadi – to ensure assistance reaches those in need throughout the constituency.
“Every Ramadan, we visit each zone in Lundu. Today, we are in the Sampadi Zone where 31 asnaf recipients from eight villages are receiving aid.
“This also includes one Iban village, Kampung Kangka. Through this programme, we hope to assist those who are less fortunate so they can better prepare to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” he said.
He said this when met by reporters after the Sampadi Zone Asnaf Contribution Programme in conjunction with Ramadan 1447H/2026 held in Lundu on Thursday (March 5).
Meanwhile, Azizul revealed that more than RM1 million in funding has been secured to upgrade mosque and surau facilities across the Tanjong Datu constituency.
According to him, the projects will be implemented based on earlier applications, with allocations varying depending on the scope of work required.
“Last year, we received an allocation from Deputy Prime Minister, (Datuk Seri) Fadillah Yusof, for the entire N3 Tanjong Datu area amounting to between RM1 million and RM1.5 million, and it has already been approved.
“For the Darul Ibadah Mosque in Kampung Stoh, where we are today, an allocation of RM60,000 has been approved. The scope of work will be determined soon, and we expect the upgrading works to be carried out this year,” he said.
