A TOTAL of 336 new households will benefit from the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) project at Jalan Lubok Bemban and Bukit Engkerbai in Mukah.

Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Liwan Lagang said the project, approved under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW), will expand access to treated water for communities that had long depended on alternative sources.

“The project’s scope includes the installation of a 20-km pipeline, construction of a 1.45-million-litre water storage tank, and the development of a booster pumping station,” he said during question-and-answer session in the DUN today.

He was responding to Royston Valentine (GPS–Tellian), who had sought updates on the project.

Royston had asked about the latest status of rural water supply (BALB) projects covering Jalan Lubok Bemban, Bukit Engkerbai and Ulu Sikat; Jalan Tingkas, Nanga Sikat and Sebakong; as well as Sungai Arip, Ulu Baoh and Ulu Sebakong.

Liwan said the treated water supply project for Lubok Bemban, Bukit Engkerbai and Ulu Sikat was now at an evaluation stage.

He added that the Sungai Arip, Ulu Baoh and Ulu Sebakong project was at the design stage, with a value engineering lab expected in the first quarter of 2026, while the Tingkas, Nanga Sikat and Sebakong project was also progressing at the design stage.
